FCAT
The FCAT Reading and Math test will be given to all students in March. Tenth grade students who pass these tests will have fulfilled the FCAT requirements for graduation and will not have to take the Reading or Math FCAT again. Tenth graders who do not pass will continue to have opportunities to re-take the tests.
For more information about the FCAT please go to: http://fcat.fldoe.org/fcatpub3.asp. This site will allow you to see past FCAT tests, use FCAT Explorer, and will answer questions you may have.
FCAT Explorer is a practice site for students. Most students have log-ins and passwords already – if your child does not know what their log-in and password is, give us a call and we will find out for you.
The results of the FCAT generally do not come back until May. We will alert the students and parents upon receipt of them.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
For information on the classes required for students to graduate in the state of Florida, please go to www.facts.org. This site is an excellent site for determining what credits the students already have, what they need, and what track they are currently moving on. It gives a lot of fantastic information about colleges and students can continue to use it while in Florida colleges.
When you log onto the page, click on High School Students near the top left of the page. There are a variety of helpful links at that point, but Academic Planning with EPEP will help your child see what they need to graduate. Also helpful is the link Things to Do, Year by Year, which outlines what a student should be doing each year of high school to prepare for the future.
Students will need a log-in and password to get in. It is easy to reset the password and get the user log-in with a few pieces of information, however, students will need to know their state ID number. Many times this is their social security number followed by an x. If this doesn't work, please call the school and we can help you find it. Please note that first semester credits have not been uploaded to Facts.org yet.
